Shay is a compassionate and grounded counselor-in-training who is deeply committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. He is currently completing his Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at the New York Institute of Technology. Shay earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Oswego and a Master’s degree in Health Sciences from Drexel University, bringing both academic depth and real-world healthcare experience to his work.

Before entering the counseling field, Shay spent three years as an EMT, supporting individuals and families during some of their most vulnerable moments. This frontline experience shaped his calm presence, crisis-awareness skills, and deep respect for the resilience of the human spirit. Clients often appreciate his steady, supportive demeanor and his ability to create a sense of safety from the very first session.

Shay’s therapeutic style blends Person-Centered Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He believes meaningful change happens in a space that feels warm, collaborative, and free of judgment. Together with his clients, Shay explores how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected — and works to develop practical tools that can be applied in everyday life. His approach is both supportive and action-oriented, helping clients gain insight while building real coping strategies that lead to lasting growth.

Shay enjoys working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, and stress related to life transitions. Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready to grow, Shay meets clients where they are and helps them move forward with greater confidence and resilience. He believes each person already carries strengths within them — therapy is the process of uncovering and strengthening those abilities.

Outside of the therapy room, Shay enjoys snowboarding, staying active, attending concerts, following sports, and spending time outdoors — activities that help him stay balanced and energized.
