Marisa completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Saint John’s University and went on to obtain a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University. As she works toward completing her licensure, Marisa is dedicated to guiding individuals on their journey toward the person they are meant to be.
Marisa believes above all, that a strong therapeutic relationship and a safe, nonjudgemental environment is the first and most important step in a therapy. When working with Marisa you will participate in a healthy stable relationship that prospers on care, empathy, listening and being paired with someone who genuinely wants to see you thrive. You can be sure that when working with Marisa you will feel her authenticity in the room and the passion she has for her work.
Marisa’s approach to therapy is dependent on the client’s goals, needs and view on what therapy can do for them. Her history in child care has made Marisa very good at getting creative and adapting to whatever is best for the individual seeking help. She works with children of all ages, pre-teens, teens, young adults and adults who struggle with a variety of symptoms and life experiences. This includes depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, ADHD, autism, relationship difficulties, life transitions and more. Marisa utilizes a multitude of modalities such as Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and feels that she takes each session with a humanistic and strengths - based approach. Marisa also incorporates art, music and narrative techniques when needed.
